As part of the year of school-to-university Olympism, the Department of National Education with the partnership of USEP Northern Islands and the UNSS Northern Islands district offers a challenge to students of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin. For schoolchildren, middle school and high school students, it is about running 6726 km to reach virtually the city of Paris, a candidate for the 2024 Olympic Games.
This participatory sports project, labeled by the Ministry and recognized as innovative by the Academy of Guadeloupe, aims to promote sport as an educational tool and to mobilize the entire educational community around Paris's bid for the 2024 Olympic Games in emphasizing civic and sporting values.
Since November 30, the date of the first race carried out by middle and high school students (note: they have covered 351 km), 25 events have been organized in the various schools on the island.
To date, 2854 km have been covered by young athletes from the island, or 42% of the target set to virtually rally Paris and therefore complete the 44 km.
