Strengthening vector control teams

The regional health agency (ARS) deployed twelve agents in the French part to fight against the proliferation of mosquitoes following the passage of Irma. "They go to meet the population to raise their awareness and give them advice to eliminate breeding sites. They also carry out sprays ”, explains the director general, Patrice Richard, during a trip last Thursday to Saint-Martin. There are many sites where the conditions are favorable for the development of these lodges, whether in crowded boats or in sheets also piled up.

"We are going to see our teams reinforced with ten people made available by the Red Cross as well as ten other agents of the Community," says Patrice Richard.

As for rats, the regional health agency had indicated in late September that it was going to conduct a control campaign. “We had given specific products to seven private companies specializing in rodent control. But it is up to the owners to call on these companies so that they can intervene, ”explains Patrice Richard.
