Weather: The Northern Islands in yellow vigilance for dangerous sea

0

Since yesterday, the sea is widening, hence the decision of Météo France to place the Northern Islands in yellow vigilance for dangerous sea at the coast.

Under the effect of a north-northeast swell, hollows of about 3 meters on average formed in the morning, then they reached 3,50 m at the end of the day, before approaching 4 meters in the night from Wednesday to Thursday and Thursday morning. This swell comes across a sea already well formed by the east-northeast wind.

Consequently, caution is advised on exposed coasts, mainly to the north and east, due to the rollers and strong surges. The moorings of boats can be requested. A certain agitation will also appear in the port of Gustavia, and to a lesser extent on the side of Marigot.

On the wind side, it is from east-northeast and blows steadily over the period, with gusts often reaching 60 to 70 km / h, even 80 km / h near the heaviest showers.

Conditions are expected to improve on Saturday morning.
