The French painter Sliman Ismaïli Alaoui who is currently in artistic residency at the Tribute Hotel is a natural addition to the long list of talents already present in Saint-Martin. Meet.
The island of Saint-Martin was discovered in Sliman in 2017 after Irma. “At the time, Christian Jurand formed a team of 10 artists to come and create the mural in front of the hotel with a view to revitalizing and embellishing the island. Baki [Arbia, director of the Tribute Hotel] appreciated my work and offered to come back to paint according to my desires and my inspiration. Oh yeah ! "
Sliman has not lacked productivity since his recent arrival, the hotel now has 6 new paintings signed by his hand.
Deeply inhabited and inspired by the desire to paint, Sliman's career resonates as much with destiny as with predispositions.
“I remember holding my first pencils when I was 3 years old. From there, the drawing imposed itself on me. I took drawing lessons at 10 years old, comic strip lessons at 12. Around my 14th birthday, friends told me about this phenomenon emerging then in Paris and which consisted of making gigantic drawings on the walls with spray paint. 15 years in the wonderful world of graffiti. The speed of realization of the artist comes mainly from his experiences as a graffiti artist (alias Nascio) where the execution time is essential but also from this technique called direct tracing: no sketch, no draft, we create d 'right off the bat.
