Organization of New Years festivities this evening on the Sea Front: Better late than never ...

In the absence of Christmas decorations in the various districts of the island, the Collectivity will light up the Saint-Martin sky with a New Year's fireworks, which will be shot this Friday January 3 at 21 p.m., from Marigot Bay .

A free concert is also scheduled this evening from 18:00 p.m. to 23:00 p.m. on the Marigot Sea Front, staged by the Kalaboom association.

“In recent years, the fireworks of the Collectivity have always been fired on the 1st  January evening at the same time as the peace concert.

This year the concert for peace was planned on January 3 for technical reasons and it was decided to fire on the same date, "specifies the COM.

"The main thing is to mark the celebration of the new year and the community wanted to do it despite the date constraints."

• And Sandy-Ground?

"As for the blockage of the public highway at Sandy-Ground by carcasses, the community cannot solve this public safety and fundamental problem on its own. Because how could the cleaning services intervene alone in these refusal conditions?

Security must be ensured and the tripartite conditions (COM State demonstrators) must be met, otherwise the community would have already carried out the cleaning for a long time, "she explains.

“Quartier d'Orléans was cleaned up by the community with the help of neighborhood associations and the gendarmerie. This was done without problem and in concertation.

The positioning is not the same at Sandy-Ground and it is a question of finding a joint solution to be able to clean the roads ”.

We bet that a solution will be found quickly between the different parties so that the Sandy-Ground district no longer looks like a lawless area._AF
