New Year's Eve: A satisfactory safety record

0

On New Year's Eve, between 2:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., the gendarmes of Saint-Martin carried out numerous blood alcohol checks, mainly at Cul-de-Sac. The authorities welcome the good behavior of road users.

In terms of road safety, the numerous soldiers present at the Cul-de-Sac roundabout carried out more than 200 alcohol tests; 20 were found to be positive, including 2 delictional alcohol disorders resulting in the immediate withdrawal of the license. A lack of a driving license and a refusal to comply are also to be noted.

According to the Prefect of the Northern Islands, Anne Laubies and the gendarmerie commander, Sébastien Manzoni: "The results of the night of New Year's Eve are satisfactory and testify, beyond the mobilization of the police, of a awareness of the Saint-Martinois who allowed everyone to experience the end-of-year festivities in a peaceful and responsible way ”.

The fear of the gendarme has clearly paid off… _AF
