DRUG TRAFFIC: The Dumont d'Urville seizes 426 kg of cocaine off the island of Aruba

The Overseas Support and Assistance Building (BSAOM) Dumont d'Urville of the Armed Forces in the West Indies, supported by Dutch air assets, carried out a fortnight ago, a seizure of 426 kg of cocaine on a Go-Fast type boat without nationality mark in the north of the island of Aruba.

The intervention of the crew of the Dumont d'Urville revealed the presence of suspicious bundles on board the fast boat.

The merchandise so discovered tested positive for the cocaine reaction test.

The three crew members, the cargo and the boat were brought back to Fort-de-France by the Dumont d'Urville. 14 bales of cocaine were seized, for a total weight of 426 kilos.

At the end of their police custody, the 3 crew members involved in this traffic were placed in pre-trial detention at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, after being indicted.

This 8th seizure of the year 2022 brings the balance sheet of the Armed Forces in the West Indies to nearly 4 tons of narcotics intercepted. The year 2022 is not over yet!  _AF
