People detained at Basse-Terre remand center will soon be able to call their families in Saint-Martin by videoconference. A pilot system is being set up by the community and the Red Cross.
A protocol must be signed in order to define the conditions for the implementation and evaluation of the experiment. During this test phase, a limited number of detained persons will be able to make calls lasting a maximum of thirty minutes, once a month.

Another condition for detainees is that they must not have received a visit for a period of three consecutive months.
Prisoners wishing to telephone will have to make the request to the detention management office (BGD), a schedule of calls will be established by the remand center.
