Pretty summer camps…

Last week, exactly Monday July 9, around fifty children benefited from a departure to Guadeloupe for a two-week stay.

Thanks to the partnership between Secours Populaire and three local associations, MadTwoz Family, CSI and Cobra Ced, 48 young Saint Martin residents were able to fly away for two weeks in Guadeloupe. They have been dispatched to three centers on the neighboring island, but the program is similar for all groups. Stroll in the forest, sport, swimming in the river… When questioned, the children were delighted to be able to take advantage of this beautiful program of the Secours Populaire Français called “friend of the world” and which exists throughout France.

"I don't want to stay in Saint-Martin all summer, there is nothing to do", Yohann, 11 years old

Soizig Brun, coordinator of the Antilles area who left the island last Wednesday, explained to us that after Irma, we had to act urgently but the aim has always been to set up long-term partnerships with local associations because "Secours Populaire is not intended to settle in the long term" and "to replace local players" who know their territory much better. Soizig Brun has therefore, for six months, created the conditions for lasting partnerships with associations deemed reliable and effective by Secours Populaires Français. These links woven between the four structures should make it possible to repeat the experience to the delight of children. _NB
