In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in 2017, more than 4000 cars were destroyed and tens of thousands of tonnes of waste had to be collected, processed and evacuated from Saint-Martin.

To deal with this exceptional situation, the VERDE-SXM company has benefited from a temporary occupation permit to store certain scrap metal waste on a site provided by the Coastal Conservatory, by the sea.

Today, and after several months of operations to evacuate stored scrap, VERDE-SXM is proud to announce that the site has been completely cleaned!

Thanks to the remarkable mobilization of the teams and the acquisition of new equipment, more than 1 tonnes of scrap have been removed since December 500.

And now ? After a visit with the Coastal Conservatory to observe this evacuation, finishing work will be carried out to restore the site to its original appearance: creation of a natural slope in certain places, collection of small waste, aeration of the soil to promote regrowth, etc.

"We would like to thank all of our teams and all of our partners for the help provided on this large-scale operation," said VERDE-SXM's director of operations, Damien Vassas.
