The Ministry of National Education devotes a page of its website to the situation in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. What there is to know.

• At the beginning of October, of the approximately 800 teachers stationed in Saint-Martin, the national education service had identified 265; the others having left the island. Since then a number have come forward but still 100 have not done so by the end of October. The rector had invited all the staff of Saint-Martin to return to their establishment of assignment as of Monday October 16 at 8 a.m.

“Given the difficult conditions of accommodation on site for certain staff, funds are being mobilized by the Ministry of National Education to help resolve, even temporarily, the accommodation problems. Food and fuel vouchers can also be offered by the education authority, ”said the latter.

• Of the 21 establishments in Saint-Martin, six were “inoperative” as of October 25. These are schools in Cul de Sac, Sandy Ground, Concordia, Marigot. The pupils of the establishments concerned are thus welcomed in others.

Since Monday 2 October, the pupils have started to be welcomed again in the establishments. Education ensures that all students of Saint Martin will be schooled after returning from the All Saints holidays, Monday, November 6

• The services of the rectorate of Martinique have installed, depending on the places available, a system for welcoming students who have left Saint-Martin. Parents or heads of students must contact the rectorate of the academy of Martinique. Tel: 0596 52 26 30. Email: ce.accueilurgence@ac-martinique.fr

• Parents or heads of pupils returning to mainland France must contact the rectorate of the academy in which they will reside temporarily or permanently.

• “In conjunction with the CNED, educational resources have been listed and educational materials have been sent (or digitized for printing) to the rectorate of Guadeloupe. Support has been offered to teachers from the academy to use these materials, ”says the Ministry of Education.

Teachers can reconstruct educational resources and activities from the digital educational resource banks available on the websites www.ecolenumerique.education.gouv.fr/brne and www.eduscol.education.fr/brne.
