The Happy Bookers reading club, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, on Saturday April 13th distributed the funds collected during its breakfast on February 23rd, in favor of the annex of the Media library section youth at Concordia and the Jubilee Library in Philipsburg.
The $ 1324.72 collected was shared equally between the two beneficiaries. Each institution received half of the collection.
In the presence of Line Helissey Line, Alex Richards Alex, Patrick Javois of all the staff of the media library, the club made a donation of 62 new Caribbean and English-speaking books. The team favored this material rather than financial donation because these works are difficult to obtain in the public market. The club also donated used books.
At the Jubilee Library, Irmin Hugues, Lucas Pyt and the staff got together to receive the monetary donation. The latter will finance the expansion of their e-Library (digital library).
When an Internet user asked the club "why donate to public institutions?" "The group replied" We are very convinced that we must do something to help these institutions fulfill their main mission, which is to serve the public. It is not a question of politics but of community ”.
The club would like to thank the public and the local press for supporting their fundraising, as well as all those who donated used books.
The annexes of the media library will be open to the public very soon. The Concordia annex (youth section) is located at 31 rue Jean Jacques Fayet. That of Quartier d'Orléans (all public), in the district council building, next to the stadium.
The Jubilee Library is open to the public in a temporary room at # 3 Walter Nisbeth road in the Adolphus Richardson building.
