Three cases of sexual assault, two of which were committed in Saint-Barthélemy, were to be examined last Thursday by the local court of Saint-Martin but they had to be postponed to April or June 2022 for the same reason: during the investigation phase , the prosecution failed to order a psychiatric expertise of the defendants in accordance with the law. The prosecutor admitted "misses" on the part of his colleagues who had managed the investigations.
In the Saint-Martin case, the victim's lawyer also requested additional information and a psychological counter-expertise from her client, which was accepted by the court. The latter also ordered that the psychiatric expertise of the defendant be carried out by a doctor based in metropolitan France because the defendant is a doctor practicing in Saint-Martin. The latter's lawyer requested that the audio recordings of his client made by the victim be communicated to him. The case was referred in June 2022. (soualigapost.com)
