AM, a native of Saint-Barth, well known to the judicial and gendarmerie services for already having thirteen convictions in his criminal record and summoned to court in early September next for four other cases, was arrested and placed in police custody on Sunday April 22 at St. Barts.
He was on a beach with three other individuals to party when the gendarmes arrived; the latter had been called earlier by a company employee to steal a car in the area.
Among the protagonists, AM is more virulent. He insults the gendarmes and throws sand in the eyes of one of them. The latter suffered eye damage and five days' sick leave. According to blood tests, AM used alcohol, cannabis, cocaine and amphetamines. The liberty and detention judge placed him in pre-trial detention and the vice-prosecutor decided to summon him on April 25 before the court according to the procedure of immediate appearance.
Due to the lawyers' strike, his trial has been postponed. The judges had to rule on his situation. According to the requisitions of the prosecution and considering "the risk too important" of renewal of the offense, the court ordered his continued detention.
