JUSTICE: A man sentenced to the maximum sentence for the rape of 3 women in St-Martin

The facts were never publicized by the authorities. In December 2018, two young women were raped by the same man, Francis Troy, a St Kitts national. A search warrant had been launched without media coverage. In 2020, the individual reappears and rapes a third woman. He is still wanted. A new investigation is opened at the end of which the individual will be referred to the criminal court of Guadeloupe.

The hearing took place last Wednesday in the absence of the accused and a victim who did not wish to return to these facts. The other two women came. Accompanied by the psychologist of the Trait d'Union victim support association, they had the strength to testify. During the approximately three and a half hours of hearing, they plunged back into the ordeal they experienced in 2018 for one, in 2020 for the other.

For the Advocate General, "this is a calculated, thoughtful and assumed crime" and requested a sentence of sixteen years' imprisonment and an international arrest warrant.

After deliberating, the court found Francis Troy guilty of the three rapes and sentenced him to a higher sentence, ie twenty years in prison, “this is the maximum sentence”, specified the president. A ban on carrying a weapon for five years was also pronounced. The name of Francis Troy will also be registered in the national file of perpetrators of sexual offences.

The two victims left the courthouse proud of having had the necessary strength to attend the hearing. They told the court that they had tried to forget, to move on and that the day they received their summons to appear in court, they again experienced feelings of anguish. Even today, they are psychologically fragile and always accompanied by Trait d'Union.

The president of the court asked them what they expected from the trial. “Have him arrested,” they both replied.
