Sports Open Day: Get in shape, get into sport!

0

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin and its Youth and Sports department organized, last Saturday, the “Open Sports Day”, at the Salle Omnisport François Matthew in Galisbay.

Despite a mixed weather, this 4th edition took place in good conditions, the objective of this event being to sensitize the general public and in particular the youth, to the practice of a sport.

Charles-Henry Palvair, director of the Community Sports Department, was delighted with the smooth running of the event with the presence of numerous associations (note: around thirty). Almost all sports were represented: martial arts, athletics, basketball, beach tennis, capoeira, cricket, cycling, dance, football, gymnastics, swimming, windsurfing, rugby, surfing, taekwon do, tennis, shooting archery, trail running, volleyball, beach volleyball, windsurfing, boxing…

Also during the “Open Sports Day” and this is the great novelty of this sporting season: the “Beach” space created by the Collectivity next to the Omnisports hall open to the public.

A demonstration of beach volleyball took place on this beautiful setting.

Other sports activities were offered to the public within the brand new gymnasium with the Avenir Sportif Club and the Archers of Saint-Martin. Without forgetting the ABC Intersport boxing club which met with great success with young people with the coach, Philippe Arrendel!

A great initiative on the part of the organizers to introduce young people to Saint-Martin to a new sport, to make them want to move…  _AF
