Following floods and mudslides of unprecedented magnitude observed in Guadeloupe on April 30, which left two dead and one person missing, the accelerated procedure for recognition of the state of natural disaster was activated. by the Ministry of the Interior for the municipalities of Abymes, Pointe-à-Pitre, Gosier and Morne-à-l'Eau respectively.
The natural disaster commission (Catnat), meeting urgently on May 10 to rule on the admissibility of these two requests, issued a favorable opinion on each of them.
All the victims of these municipalities will therefore be able to benefit from the status of natural disaster and be compensated according to the damage suffered on their insured property. _AF
