Northern Islands: The Prefecture is launching a “Road Safety” call for projects for 2017!

0

Since 2015, Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin have totaled a hundred road accidents, for a sad report of 17 deaths. These are 17 too many dead!

Involved in risky behavior (non-compliance with the highway code: no flashing light, no helmet or seat belt, lack of visibility for pedestrians and cyclists, driving under the influence of alcoholism or narcotics, etc…) incompatible with driving, which cause too many bodily accidents and deaths for two territories not exceeding 115 km².

Faced with this observation, the State services are more than ever mobilized, and count on everyone's responsibility.

The prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin therefore launches a call for "road safety" projects to encourage and help the implementation of preventive actions, which will be carried out in 2017 by civil society actors. This call for projects is open to state administrations, local authorities, the media, private companies, associations, insurance companies, public establishments.

These projects will take the form of training, awareness, education or communication actions responding, among other things, to the following local challenges:

- compliance with the rules of the highway code,

- failure to wear safety equipment, in particular helmets and seat belts,

- driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs,

- excessive speed practice

Other themes could also be developed, such as professional road risks, distractors, seniors, etc.

Note that amenities (roads, buildings, etc.) are not affected by this call for projects.

The precise framework of the call for projects, and the descriptive sheet of the envisaged action are available on the website of the Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin at the following address: Postal address: route du Fort Louis 97150 Saint-Martin Tel. : 05 90 29 09 21 Fax: 05 90 87 53 95
