On Monday, May 20, 2019, the 24/6 mobile gendarmerie squadron in Antibes and the intervention squad of the Republican Guard landed on the island of Saint-Martin in order to strengthen the SXM company.
Sixty-eight soldiers are deployed on Saint-Martin and seven in Saint-Barthélemy to ensure the security of the population.
