Friendly Island - Clean Island: Start today for a new island clean-up campaign!

0

From November 20 to December 20, 2018, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin repeats its Friendly Island - Clean Island cleaning campaign before the tourist season and the holiday season.

Despite the efforts of the community, which invested more than € 15m in the restoration of the territory after Irma, despite the involvement of citizens' associations and individuals, certain places are still in a deplorable state. The Collectivity therefore decided to launch a new campaign to encourage cleaning.

In order to encourage this civic and collective approach, the Collectivité is once again making dumpsters available to the public in the neighborhoods. A 20m3 dumpster will be placed in each district to remove bulky items, and not construction rubble that companies must imperatively transport themselves to the ecosite.

The services of the Collectivity will move the skips as needed and will continue cleaning actions in the public domain. Individuals are invited to clean their property and use the dumpsters.

Dumpster locations:

- Orléans district: Land facing the Thelbert Carti stadium

- Cul de Sac: Entrance to Mont Vernon - in the parking lot of the former Soualiga college

- Grand Case: In front of the old MJC - in the parking lot of the Post Office - at La Savane

- Rambaud / Colombier / St Louis / Friar's Bay: Entrance to Colombier - La Batterie - Near the tamarind tree of St Louis

- Approval / Hameau du Pont: In front of the Annicette supermarket - Bend in front of the Piper house - Vacant lot

- Galisbay / Concordia: Grand St Martin - old Media library - Spring

- Sandy Ground: Albéric Richards Stadium - Lady Fish Street - Facing the MJC - Nettlé Bay / Terres Basses.

Many private properties have remained unchanged since Irma. 15 formal notices to clean up have been issued by the Community; new formal notices are being issued. This action involves involving citizens in cleaning their place of residence.

At the same time, the community is continuing its ELV operation to remove end-of-life vehicles. This operation is free for all those who wish to make themselves known to the community by contacting 0590 52 27 30 (ask for the Department of Environment and Living Environment).

As for the transport of waste to recycling centers, individuals and companies who will join this effort are asked to sort green waste from bulky items before transporting them to the Grandes Cayes ecosite or to the Galisbay recycling center. This pre-sorting is necessary because it facilitates the treatment and recycling of waste.

The Collectivity invites each citizen to participate in this collective action before the tourist season and the end of year celebrations.

Friendly island - Clean island! Be friendly, be clean. Cleanliness is everyone's business!
