The big U13 tournament organized last Saturday by ASC Saint-Louis Stars at the Jean-Louis Vanterpool stadium was a resounding success with young footballers on the island. That is the main thing here.
The clubs of FC Marigot, FC Flamingo, Junior Stars (A and B), AS Phoenicks, Juventus de Saint-Martin, Saint-Louis Stars (A and B) AJOE (A and B, Saint-Martin club Barthélemy) were involved in this tournament which kept all its promises.
The ten formations, divided into two pools of five teams first competed in a mini championship throughout the morning.
At the end of the various qualifying matches for the final phase, AS Phoenix, in Pool A, finished ahead of ASC Saint-Louis Stars "A", Juniors Stars "B", AJOE "B and FC Flamingo.
In Pool B, Juventus de Saint-Martin took 1st place ahead of AJOE “A”, Juniors Stars “A”, FC Marigot and ASC Saint Louis Stars “B”.
The serious things begin...
The semi-finals played in the afternoon kept the many spectators spellbound by the spectacle offered by the young Saint-Martin footballers.
After an undecided match until the final whistle, "Juve" won their ticket to the final by winning by the smallest of scores against Saint-Louis Stars (1-0).
The other semi-final was played during the fateful penalty shootout, Phoenicks and AJOE not being able to decide after regulation time (1-1).
At the end of the suspense, the young proteges of Antoine Durand validated their ticket for the final (5 shots on goal to 4).
The small final (match for 3rd place) saw the victory of Saint-Louis Stars against AJOE (1-0).
Then place in the final pitting Juventus against AS Phoenicks. A meeting that took place in an excellent state of mind, it is important to underline it. At the final whistle, the proteges of the duo Julien Latour – Grégory Druart could explode with joy with the feeling of having negotiated their confrontation with Phoenicks (3-1) in the most beautiful way.
