Like Juventus de Saint-Martin, the United Stars club recently traveled to Guadeloupe to participate in the Omer Geoffroy tournament organized by Juventa. A great tournament that brought together fourteen formations in the U9 category and twelve among the U13.
The players of Grand-Case (U13) attacked the competition at 8:35 am on Sunday morning with a first match won against the USBM (1-0). Identical scenario during their second meeting with a new success obtained against the Equinox team (1-0).
After an ideal start to the competition, "our" young Saint-Martin footballers were forced to share the points, respectively ahead of Arsenal (2-2) and Sirocco (1-1).
In the ranks of United Stars, fatigue is felt and what had to happen, happened.
Dominated in all compartments of the game, the players of Grand-Case bow most logically in the world at the expense of Stade Lamentin (4-0), future winner of the tournament!
Not at all discouraged, "our" Yellows approach their classification match for the 5rd place with a moral of steel. Unfortunately, after a par score in regulation time, they have to bow to Juventa in the fateful penalty shootout. Did you say infuriating?
The pleasure of playing above all…
For the U9s, for the time being, the magic of the round ball operates: playing almost like the grown-ups on a beautiful lawn is already enough for their happiness!
Make way for play, nothing but play and above all fun. The young budding footballers of United Stars (U9) had an enriching, rewarding and also human experience!
For the record, the "minots" of Grand-Case finish the tournament in a very honorable eighth place (two wins, four defeats and a draw).
Beyond the result, the young shoots of United Stars will keep a wonderful memory of their first trip on Guadeloupe soil. Isn't that the main thing?
