Last Friday around 17 p.m., the gendarmerie launched a wanted notice after the disturbing disappearance of Marie Hamlet, 28, and her daughter, 3.
The young woman had abducted her little girl because she refused to allow her to be placed in foster care. She had gone to hide in the Dutch part, in the district of St Peters, where she was found Saturday mid-day.
Alerted by the unit for collecting information of concern (CRIP), the deputy prosecutor had issued a placement order for the child on Thursday evening, which was to be executed on Friday morning. Social assistance left with the little girl and the mother chased them by car. “She caught up with them and ran over to them with her vehicle. She recovered her child and fled, ”explains Michaël Ohayon, deputy prosecutor.
Marie Hamlet must be placed in police custody for having removed her daughter and for acts of violence. According to the first elements of the investigation, she has an unstable psychiatric profile and is a drug addict. She is the mother of two other children, ages 6 and 9, who live with a family member.
The girl is fine. The gendarmes have no information on the father.
