With the summer holidays approaching, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin invites its citizens to check the validity of their identity document, before planning a trip or buying a plane ticket. The wait for obtaining a title is particularly long at this time, you are advised to anticipate your formalities.

For any travel from Juliana airport, to France or abroad, a valid passport is mandatory.

The valid National Identity Card (CNI) is valid for travel to Guadeloupe, St Barthélemy, Martinique and Paris via Guadeloupe or Martinique. It is possible to present an expired pass less than 5 years old on the Grand-Case/Pointe-à-Pitre or Fort-de-France/Paris journeys, but it is strongly recommended to have at least submitted a renewal application for the pass. , and to travel with a deposit receipt authorizing travel with an expired title.

At present, the production times for identity documents are 3 months from the date of submission of the file. This duration is given for information only and may be longer depending on the number of requests. Your request for an identity document is made to the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, Civil Status Service – Town Hall in Marigot. To be registered, the file must be duly completed. It is then transmitted to the CERT of Martinique which processes requests from Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Saint Barthélémy and Saint-Martin.

Once the request has been validated, the title is produced by the national printing office located in France. The titles are then returned to the town halls by Chronopost.

You will receive an SMS informing you of the availability of the title from the Civil Status service of the Collectivity. The latter mentions the deadline by which to withdraw your title.
