ean-Paul Tony Hélissey won the silver medal at the end of the team foil event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, alongside Erwann Le Péchoux, Enzo Lefort and Jérémy Cadot.

The Olympic vice-champion will be present today and tomorrow in Saint-Martin.

Jean-Paul Tony Helissey, born March 28, 1990 in Pointe-à-Pitre, is a fencer, specialist in foil. His father, Paul Hélissey, Saint-Martinois, is well known on the island, in particular because of the responsibilities he exercises within AUDRA. Her mother, Danielle Tony, worked for a long time in sports medicine. Her sister, Carole, was triple champion of France university and military with the sword. His little brother, Théo, started out in fencing.

Preparing for the Olympic Games requires high-level equipment and support that athletes cannot do alone. SEMSAMAR supports many sports associations in Saint-Martin, in particular through its “SEM ta route” scheme. She therefore quite naturally agreed to join Jean-Paul Tony Hélissey for her preparation for the Olympic Games.

Today, she shares her joy and pride as an Olympic vice-champion. Indeed, it is undoubtedly the first time in its history that Saint-Martin can take pride in having such a fencing champion.

Semsamar wanted many young people from Saint-Martin to meet and exchange ideas with Jean-Paul Tony Helissey. The Olympic vice-champion arrives today in Saint-Martin.

In the evening, he will be received by SEMSAMAR at its headquarters. On Wednesday, he will visit various schools in Saint-Martin.  _AF
