ENVIRONMENT: A garage asks to become an approved ELV center

0

The Concordia SRAPS Métal company recently submitted to the prefecture an application for registration and approval for the regularization of a storage facility, depollution, dismantling of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs). It also applies for approval to be an ELV center and ELV crusher.

In France, the so-called ELV centers are highly regulated activities; not all garages can store car wrecks under all conditions. VHU centers must have prefectural approval. ELV centers larger than 100 m2 are considered installations classified for the protection of the environment (ICPE), and must be authorized and comply with a set of obligations as such.

Also by law, Concordia SRAPS Métal's request for approvals must be the subject of a public consultation. This will take place from Monday October 26 to Monday November 23 in a community. The public notice will be posted starting Friday October 9; it will also be available on the Deal website.

As a reminder, in 2018, Concordia SRAPS Metal had already obtained provisional approval to manage ELVs; this approval was granted in the post Irma context in order to speed up the processing of car wrecks. (soualigapost.com)
