The two Super U stores in Saint-Martin offer their customers the opportunity to recycle their plastic bottles. Two B:Bot machines developed by Green Big have been installed at the entrance of each store.
Their use is simple: the eco-citizen inserts the bottle into the machine which immediately crushes it and reduces it to flakes. These are recovered and sent to mainland France to a recycler who will manufacture the preforms necessary for the manufacture of U brand fruit juice bottles by the supplier Refresco.
In mainland France, the first machines were installed in 2017 and made it possible to collect more than 1300 tonnes of bottles from U stores.
