Environment: Children made aware of nature and recycling

0

Each year, the Objectif Réussite association, in collaboration with the Sandy Ground on The Move Insertion association, receives children for homework assistance, as part of extracurricular activities. During the last major holidays and those of All Saints' Day, the children practiced activities on the theme "Fauna and Flora", while having recycling in mind.

Thus, the little ones made nests for birds, but also hats for the carnival holidays, from recycled products. One of the objectives of these extracurricular activities is to teach them that the objects to be thrown can be reused, instead of throwing them in the nature. Because, it is important to explain to them, “the effect of waste on nature. Especially since they are also found in the sea and that this has consequences for fish and mammals, ”says Jeannette Boirard, socio-professional coordinator within the association Sandy Ground on The Move Insertion.

The theme “Fauna and Flora” follows the consequences of cyclone Irma, because the children saw “the effects of global warming on the planet (…) For the year 2019-2020, we keep the same theme, with the leitmotif "I am an eco-citizen, I respect nature" ". About twenty children participate in activities during the year, and last July, they discovered the Birdville site in Belvedere, where they could see parrots and, in particular, feed them.

The Amuseum Naturalis in Quartier d'Orléans was also visited and young people participated in activities around birds, as well as a treasure hunt.

This year, it is planned to visit the ecosite of Grandes Cayes and the Jardin de Bellevue, "because it comes within the theme of respect for the environment and recycling", assures Jeannette Boirard._RM
