Jobs: La Samanna employees demonstrate: "negotiations are not progressing"

The employees of La Samanna gathered this Friday, March 16 in the morning in front of the gates of the hotel belonging to the Belmond group.

Arriving by bus and carrying cardboard signs, they decided to express their dissatisfaction. "The management asked us not to make waves and to remain discreet but the negotiations are not progressing" deplores Julien Boirard, CGTG union representative and staff representative.

Since the meeting of January 19 during which the hotel management announced to employee representatives the launch of a job safeguard plan (PSE) which provides for the dismissal of 138 employees on open-ended contracts, two months have passed.

The employees, who had three months to oppose the plan, chained the meetings. Rather than dismiss 92% of them, they have been proposing since February 26 to negotiate voluntary departures “But we have no concrete answer. Each time the management tells us that it is awaiting the decision of the Belmond group (based in London, note) ”explains, annoyed, Julien Boirard.

Leaving empty-handed from the hotel, La Samanna employees then, around midday, expressed their opposition to the PES with their horns during a snail operation in the streets of Marigot.
