The President of the Republic had announced it during his second visit to Saint-Martin at the end of September 2018, he hoped to rise to the rank of vice rector in the course of 2019 of the assistant to the rector specially in charge of Saint-Martin.
The decree has been published. Its purpose is to "create, for the territories of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, a job as vice-rector head of the national education service, assistant to the rector of the Academy of Guadeloupe".
It appeared last Friday in the Official Journal of the Republic and entered into force on Saturday, November 9.
A call for candidates must still be launched to fill the post; the person selected will then be appointed vice-rector head of the national education service, assistant to the rector of the academy of Guadeloupe.
Unlike some amalgams and at the request of Daniel Gibbs for several years, it is not a question of creating a vice rectorate in Saint-Martin. Emmanuel Macron had been clear: this "will not lead to the creation of an autonomous academy which would be an obstacle to the mobility of staff".
