0

The Academic Day dedicated to Women's Engineering Sciences took place this Wednesday at the Robert Weinum high school.

The headquarters of this first edition was established in the multipurpose hall, in front of an entirely female audience. No less than 180 female students from 13 second year classes attended this day of discovery and awareness of science and engineering professions.

If the students of the Robert Weinum high school were presented in the multipurpose room, those of the vocational high school of the Northern Islands and the four colleges of the basin were presented by videoconference. The main idea of Women's Engineering Sciences therefore allows high school and college girls to meet, during the particular period of adolescence, female engineers and technicians towards whom they can project themselves, identify themselves, recognize themselves. Several teachers also followed one another to present the different scientific options available to the students in order to help them to orient the rest of their school career as best they could. Brilliantly coordinated by Mrs. Ogoundélé (DDFPT), the academic day had a godmother of choice in the person of Sabrina Placidoux who is the head of the Department of Territorial Development in the Collectivity. The assembly was particularly attentive when she told her her story, the choice of her particular studies and the pride of being where she is today. The organizers had planned the viewing of several short films including one presenting Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy, Finance and Recovery, in charge of Industry, who recalled the importance of the place of women in scientific and engineering professions. Ms. Borel, principal, did not fail to sensitize young people to plan for their future, whether scientific, technological or other. _VX
