“Being on the ground, participating in mediation between students, parents and the school institution” such is the will of Dominique, a member of the adult-relay system at the Mont des Accords college in Saint-Martin.
She joined the system at the Mont des Accords college in 2018. “We participate in several actions, for example the prevention and the fight against school dropout, the reception of students. We also intervene at the end of college to manage, defuse conflicts and with families when there is a misunderstanding with the school institution,” she explains.
“I worked in a school environment for seventeen years. I wanted to be in the field, to continue working in a school environment, the adult relay system was the position I needed! “, she confides. Dominique loves her job and feels useful in providing support to families and students. She soon plans to take the competition as a special education teacher.
The adult relay positions are financed in Saint-Martin at 80% by the State and 20% by the Collectivity. Recently the Collectivity renewed its participation in the financing of the two posts at the Mont des Accords college. Until 2025, the cost of the system amounts to 167 euros, including 400 euros financed by the State and 133 euros by the COM.
