Last Sunday, the BelAir Community Center opened its doors for free to all the curious and eager for a healthier and respectful lifestyle on the planet for the Vegan Fest 2018. It is on the initiative of the facebook group “St. Maarten Vegans "that this event is organized, Sunday was its 3rd edition.
The term "vegan", however very current, is not always very clear ... Contrary to what one might think, veganism is not limited to food. According to the definition of Larousse it is also a "refusal to consume any product from animals or their exploitation" (clothing, cosmetics, etc.).
On this occasion, around twenty professionals and associations came to present alternatives for positive change.
We found on site: specialized restaurateurs and caterers, associations in favor of selective sorting or recycling, organic and “cruelty free” cosmetic products (not tested on animals), and much more…
In addition to these new solutions to reduce your daily impact and take care of your health naturally, there was a wellness section at this event with the presence of massage and yoga professionals.
Specialist interventions also punctuated this day, without forgetting the competition for the best vegan burger.
The citizen collective St-Maarten Vegans which came to life a few years ago and now brings together more than 800 people on its facebook page. More than just a way of eating, veganism is a way of life and consumption. _AV
