Because they are in a precarious situation, certain families in Saint-Martin encounter difficulties in paying their EDF bills. They accumulate debts and are thus cut off from electricity. The Community's Solidarity Family Pole has decided to help them by signing an agreement with EDF for a period of two years. The objective is to "empower individuals and families to take into account in their energy budget early observation practices of unpaid bills and energy management advice". The COM and EDF have developed a procedure to respond to these emergency situations.
In the most extreme situations, the COM can assume all or part of the client's debt.
