Diélando Fiacre, artist in the making

0

Twenty years old Diélando Fiacre is the winner of the Tag my van competition. This competition was organized by Initiative Saint Martin Active. The association was looking for a local artist to tag the van acquired as part of the My Quartier, My business operation.

His work represents a pelican, emblematic bird of the island, dressed in a suit and tie to evoke an entrepreneur. He did it simply with a pencil and colored pencils. “My work represents local entrepreneurs who successfully take charge of their company. The pelican dressed in a hat and tie symbolizes the professionalization of Saint-Martin residents. The flamboyant lights that surround him represent the Caribbean and in the background the sun is a promise of prosperity ”, specifies the very reserved young man.

Born in Sint Maarten, Diélando only learned French at the age of thirteen but expressed himself clearly. He has been drawing since he was a child and has a predilection for portraits. Today he also paints, sculpts and teases. Holder of a professional baccalaureate in wood and associated materials manufacturing technician, he has not found work on the island in his field. He tries to integrate an art school in Martinique to first follow a MANA (upgrading in art).

He would see himself as an illustrator or graphic designer. The Saint Martin Active Initiative competition prize, a graphics tablet, will be useful for her further studies. His brother, the only family he has left, supports him in his projects. While waiting for the results of the selections, he does shelving.
