Projects that never saw the light of day

Saint-Martin has never missed projects. Whether private or public. But only very few have been successful. That is why today it is difficult to believe in new people. Here are some of the projects announced that have never materialized for various reasons.

Shopping center projects

- The projects to revitalize the economy at half mast on the French side have not failed either. There was this project of a center at the corners of rue de la République and rue de la République and the one leading up to the Catholic Church. The plans are still presented on the website of the architect Mauricio Lanari (who had also drawn the plans for the future new Belle Créole).

- In the early 2010s, another project emerged, that of a shopping center in La Savane, Happy City. An Eiffel Tower was to be built as was a Creole village. A sign presenting the project had been put up along the road. The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations was also ready to enter the company's capital, but the project never saw the light of day. The center was to open at the end of 2014.

It also had to house a hypermarket; Super U associates had to rent the site.

To be continued in our next edition.
