0

French and Dutch security forces are mobilized to enforce confinement and movement restriction measures. The controls take place at border points and throughout the French part of the island of Saint-Martin.

• 364 vehicles checked at the borders on March 31

Checkpoints are established at the borders every day. On March 31 alone, the Gendarmerie, the Border Police and the KPSM checked 364 vehicles and 412 people. Only cross-border workers and people justifying a displacement for urgent health reasons are authorized to circulate between the French part and the Dutch part of the island.

• The controls will be intensified and the sanctions will be tightened in the event of reiteration

After a first educational step to explain the instructions to users, the police will intensify controls and now proceed to a systematic verbalization in case of non-compliance with the measures.

• The completed personal attestation and identity document must be presented at each check

It must be filled in with an indelible ink pen directly by the person who wishes to go out. It can be downloaded from the Prefecture's website and Facebook page. People who do not have a printer can copy this certificate by hand. This derogatory document is to be completed with each new exit.

• Proof of professional travel must be stamped and signed by the employer, whether French or Dutch

It is only valid for essential business trips and must be completed only once. It now has a limited period of validity. If this document is not completed correctly and / or if it does not bear the company stamp, it is not valid;

To travel on the Dutch side of the island, people must imperatively obtain the personal derogatory certificate put in place by the government of Sint-Maarten downloadable from:
