The President of the COM is currently making another trip to Paris to defend the Saint-Martin cases. A trip mainly oriented on the economic and health situation of the territory.

The President's first meeting took place yesterday with the Minister of Overseas France, Sébastien Lecornu.

A fruitful exchange, which made it possible to tackle the reinforcement of resources for the general public vaccination campaign (over 18 years), which is to begin on Tuesday, May 4, on the Galisbay site (Carnival Village).

The lifting of compelling reasons was also discussed. The Minister was attentive to the economic challenges of the territory.

In terms of health, mass vaccination will have to ramp up from May, in order to be able to reopen the destination more serenely, while working on reducing the risk of a resumption of the COVID19 epidemic.

Saint-Martin will therefore have to maintain a sufficiently high level of screening for this overall system to demonstrate its effectiveness and allow reopening to tourism.

Consultation on the new Natural Risks Prevention Plan (PPRN) was also discussed with the common goal of drawing up a new “more agile” regulation, adapted to the constraints and realities of the territory.

President Gibbs  will also be received today in Matignon, at the Ministry of Health and at the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Territorial Communities.
