Dengue and chikungunya: sporadic transmission

0

The situation concerning the circulation of dengue and chikungunya viruses is calm in the Antilles, indicates the latest epidemiological bulletin from the West Indies-Guyana CIRE.

In Saint-Martin, from January 1 to October 9, 2016, "the number of consultations with a general practitioner for clinical signs suggestive of dengue is estimated at 310 compared to 415 in 2015 over the same period". For chikungunya, "the estimated number of clinically suggestive cases seen in city medicine is estimated at 40 cases against 515 cases in 2015 over the same period". To avoid the spread of arboviruses, the health authorities point out that it is essential to fight against the breeding sites, and to protect oneself from mosquito bites. _EH
