COVID-19: Important details on the establishment of the curfew in Saint-Martin

The Prefect decided, because of the deterioration of the health situation on Saint-Martin, to institute a curfew for a period of 10 days. This is effective since Sunday, May 30 from 20 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Travel between these times will be prohibited except on presentation of a personal or professional derogatory certificate and for one of the following reasons:

- Travel between home and the place of exercise of professional activity

- Travel for consultations, examinations, preventive acts and care that cannot be provided remotely or for the purchase of health products;

- Travel for compelling family reasons, for assistance to vulnerable or precarious people or for childcare;

- Travel for people with disabilities and their companions;

- Travel to respond to a judicial or administrative summons or to go to a legal professional for an act or procedure that cannot be carried out remotely;

- Travel to participate in missions of general interest at the request of the administrative authority;

- Travel related to transfers or transits to or from airports as part of long-distance journeys and being able to present the supporting transport ticket;

- Short trips for the needs of pets.

The two derogatory certificates are already available on the Prefecture's website www.saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr In addition, in order to complete the curfew measure, the Prefect has also decided to the cancellation of all events on the island until Tuesday 8 June inclusive. Access to the stadium stands is strictly prohibited, except for the practice of sporting activities.

Restaurants and drinking establishments must be closed at 20 p.m. As for hotel restaurants, they will be able to welcome and serve their customers only.

Access is therefore strictly forbidden to outsiders. The Prefecture specifies that as of May 28, 2021, 12 people are hospitalized at the Louis Constant Fleming hospital.
