Covid-19: where can you get tested?

A center in Marigot

A covid-19 screening center has opened in downtown Marigot, rue de la Liberté. It is equipped with two machines whose total capacity is to analyze 100 tests per day. “Even though the capacity is 100 tests per day, that does not mean that it is possible to perform 100 tests per day. It also depends on the ability to take the samples, ”explains ARS director Valérie Denux.

People with or without a medical prescription may come to the Marigot center, and it is indeed possible to be tested without a prescription following a national decree. In order to better manage the influx of people, it is recommended to make an appointment.

Mobile screening campaign

From Friday morning until August 14, the Red Cross bus will go to the neighborhoods to allow the population to be tested. This mobile and free screening campaign is carried out by the regional health agency, the prefecture and the Red Cross.

People are greeted by a doctor and a nurse. They must complete a form (name, phone number, email, etc.) but do not need to justify an address on the French side.

The test consists of a nasal swab. All samples taken as part of this campaign are sent to the Pasteur Institute in Guadeloupe so as not to overload the center in Marigot.

The results will be communicated within 48 to 72 hours minimum. In the event of a positive result, the ARS will contact the person concerned directly, in the event of a negative result, the person will receive the results by the end of August. If a person is positive and resides partly in Holland, the CPS (the equivalent of the ARS in Sint Maarten) will be contacted directly by the French health authorities, who will contact the person concerned who will be taken care of on the Dutch side.

Finally, people who need to travel or have a test at short notice are advised to go to the center in Marigot.
