Coronavirus: Three new cases identified and a 1st death to be deplored in the French part

 Three additional cases are identified in part French Sunday; which brings the balance sheet to 15 active cases. One person also died, this is the first death to be deplored in Saint-Martin.

“One week after a road accident causing trauma, a 61-year-old resident patient of Saint-Martin presented on March 25, 2020 with respiratory distress at his home. He was taken care of and transferred to the emergency room of the Louis Constant Fleming hospital with respect for the rules for the protection of medical transport and health personnel in the context of suspicion of Covid-19. Additional examinations revealed a field of comorbidities complicated by trauma sequelae. He unfortunately died despite the care on March 26, 2020 in the morning. The result of the COVID diagnostic test came back positive on March 27, 2020. The death is multifactorial, but the Covid-19 infection was most likely a determining factor, ”says the ARS.

The investigation around this case is carried out by Santé Publique France to identify the contact cases.

Six patients, including a new case, are confined to their homes.

Finally, nine patients including two new ones are hospitalized at Louis-Constant Fleming hospital and two in Guadeloupe.
