The medico-social sector, including that of nursing homes, is a sensitive sector due to the concentration of vulnerable people for COVID-19.

The Regional Health Agency and the Departmental Council, in conjunction with the establishments, have taken joint measures to protect residents and staff in order to avoid contamination in these structures.

In this epidemic phase, everyone's efforts are aimed at:

- Limit the transmission of the virus within accommodation structures

- Medically take care of sick people who do not require hospitalization

The following practical recommendations are to be implemented in nursing homes:

- Drastic application of barrier measures

- Full suspension of visits to residents

- Reinforcement of protective measures regardless of the presence of suspected or confirmed cases in the establishment

- Possible ban on collective activities and collective meals - Possible limitation of access to common areas including elevators up to individual confinement in the room. Temporary provision. Families are informed immediately. Regular surveillance of residents is organized with professionals passing through each individual room.

- Organization of a sector dedicated to the care of COVID + patients, or failing that, organization of confinement of residents in rooms

- Strengthening of cooperation with the doctors of the nearest hospitals

- Carrying out of the test so that the diagnosis of COVID-19 in the first 3 patients presenting an evocative clinical picture is made without delay (fever with lower respiratory infection associated or not with a diarrheal syndrome, and / or fall)

- Implementation of all possible measures, by the director, to limit the risks of transmission from outside

The nursing homes of Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands host 1009 residents. To date, no patient has been confirmed positive for COVID 19.

➢ The ARS commissioned the regional support structure ORAQS-971 for support for nursing homes. The objective is in this epidemic situation to ensure the measures implemented in nursing homes, to respond to their difficulties and to carry out prevention actions.

➢ Pr Maturin TABUE, head of the geriatrics department at CHUG and his team are also very mobilized. In conjunction with the regional support structure and the support center for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (CPIAS), they propose suitable measures to limit the risks of virus transmission in these establishments.

➢ The surgical masks have been given to all the referents designated by the directors of nursing homes, and for Marie-Galante will be shortly depending on transport. Needs monitoring is implemented.

The surgical mask is reserved for people with signs of respiratory infection suggesting a Covid19 and / or Covid-19 patients as well as to the healthcare professionals who take care of them.
