Cooperation: French military building Dumont d'Urville provides aid to Caribbean islands

0

As the peak of the hurricane season has begun, the overseas support and assistance building Dumont D'Urville is mobilized until September 3, 2020 to deliver more than 4 tons of humanitarian material to 5 Caribbean countries.

This logistical assistance for the armed forces in the Antilles comes at the request of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA). Freight supplied by CDEMA and transported by Dumont D'Urville (goggles, coveralls, tarpaulins, etc.) was loaded in Barbados last Friday. This equipment will allow the islands served to prepare to intervene with their population if a cyclone, among other things, hits them.

The vessel will unload this cargo successively in the ports of Antigua, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Lucia while respecting strict sanitary measures.
