Last Friday, a resident of the French side, YP, was brought under gendarmerie escort before the deputy prosecutor of Saint-Martin, who notified him of a summons to the local court next September.
He is prosecuted for contempt by word, gesture or threat likely to undermine the dignity of a person holding public authority in the exercise or not of his functions.
YP is accused of having repeatedly insulted the Prefect on social media between July 28 and August 3. Through invectives, YP denounces the recent decisions of the prefect, mainly that of having closed the border.
YP is also being prosecuted for also insulting Sylvie Feucher on social networks in a personal capacity.
