On Friday November 20 and Wednesday November 25, two gendarmerie checks were carried out in the Sandy-Ground district. About twenty soldiers were hired each time.

"These checks follow the last serious facts committed in the district, the most important of which is the shooting which took place on the evening of November 11 and which left two wounded", specifies the commander, Stéphan Basso, before adding "Au - beyond the checks of vehicles and people carried out at the request of the Saint-Martin prosecutor's office, foot patrols have completed the system to stay in contact with the population, explain our action and reassure the vast majority of the inhabitants of this district which only aspires to live serenely in peace ”.

On the two controls, several infringements were however noted concerning the driving of vehicles and three scooters without insurance were seized. Driving under the influence of narcotics was also noted. This district must absolutely regain calm. The gendarmerie will do what is necessary for that. Having learned of a gathering of two wheels which was to take place last weekend in Sandy-Ground, the gendarmerie asked, in conjunction with the community and the prefecture, to ban this undeclared demonstration which could have followed up , like November 11, to further violent altercations and the use of firearms. Measures have been taken on the side of the police to enforce the decree prohibiting demonstrations.  _AF
