At around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, six individuals appeared before the criminal court for theft committed during a meeting on the premises of a company located in Concordia. Many gendarmes were present around the palace in the context of this case.
According to the president of the court, the individuals broke into the premises of a company in Concordia, on the night of May 11 to 12, vandalizing a safe containing 10.000 euros, 5.395 dollars and valuable jewelry. The entire damage, including multimedia equipment and the company vehicle, was assessed at 65.000 euros. Because of the national strike of lawyers, the judgment was returned for December 15 in Basse-Terre. However, the court ruled on the security measures: committal warrants and judicial checks. Among the suspected burglars, several have already been convicted of violent theft, possession of firearms with ammunition and possession of cannabis. The deputy prosecutor in his requisition mentions the various convictions of the defendants and emphasizes that some were more cooperative than others. After deliberation, the
court decided to place three individuals under judicial control with obligation to point once a week to the gendarmerie, obligation to appear at the hearing of December 15 in Basse-Terre, ban on contacting them and ban on leaving the territory of Saint-Martin without authorization even to go to the Dutch side.
