COMMUNIQUE: Unassigned or unpaid teachers: unacceptable fatality?

0

The SE-UNSA expresses its deep concern about the failing management of the Guadeloupe Academy.

Contract teachers endure precarious working conditions and unacceptable treatment that compromise their well-being and financial security. In addition, positions remain unfilled. At Soualiga College, students already facing shortages of rooms also suffer from the absence of teachers in essential subjects such as French, Spanish and mathematics!

A doubly intolerable situation

It is scandalous to learn that many contract colleagues will not receive their September salary until the end of October 2023! Such an attitude constitutes a profound injustice towards professionals dedicated to education in our academy. Furthermore, how can we tolerate the fact that students have been deprived of lessons since the start of the school year in several essential subjects when the needs for teachers have been clearly identified since last June?

We demand concrete and immediate answers from the Academy.

Since the start of the school year a month ago, we have noticed significant dysfunctions.

For unpaid contract workers, the Academy must act responsibly so as not to further compromise the lives and well-being of those who contribute to the education of our students.

Regarding vacant positions: every student in Saint-Martin deserves a teacher in front of them!

Despite the presence of a vice-rector, we are still suffering the consequences of the mismanagement of the rectorate!

The SE-UNSA remains vigilant as the situation evolves and will take all necessary initiatives to protect the rights and dignity of contract workers at the Academy of Guadeloupe in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.
