Recently, the ACS ZEPIN (Cultural and Sports Association of the Northern Islands priority education zone) organized its cultural guided hike on the heights of Colombier in partnership with the HAAT association (Heritage And Ancestral Trailers of Colombier).

To the sound of the djembe and the various stopping points during the course, it was an opportunity for the participants to discover the history of the hamlet of Colombier, after the time of slavery until the 1960s, even in the - beyond with the agricultural and cultural valuations in progress.

The star of the hike was the surprise of the participants to be received by HAAT dressed in traditional attire at the climax, to discover the "dutch wall" and its history. At the end of 2 hours of walking, the welcome of the return of the walkers was assured by the rhythms of another Djembé.

This rich morning continued with a storytelling tour of the house museum and its treasures of ancient objects. Hikers were able to enjoy a traditional breakfast, enhanced with a specialty of this hamlet, the "arrow root" or "diktam" or also called "toloman" in Martinique, which is a hot drink made from the roots of a tuber.

The President of ACS ZEPIN, Xavier Mirre-Minori ended the event with a quiz and pretty plants offered by the association which also works for the promotion of culture, well-being and the environment.

ACS ZEPIN continues its activities by offering its 47th edition of guided tour of historic sites, for Saturday March 13. Given the sanitary conditions against Covid-19, places remain limited. Info line: 0690 36 96 20 or 0690 35 83 46.
