School complex: the mobile classes of the college will not be finished at the end of November

"We are very worried, mainly about the implementation of the mobile classes initially promised in September, then at All Saints' Day, then at the end of November" says Lynn Taylor, member of the Parents Children Teachers group. Friday, November 23, the collective had given an appointment to the press at the end of the afternoon at the school complex, in particular to give an update on the progress of the construction of the mobile classes.

At the end of October, during the rector's site visit, Frédéric Joséphine, president of PSB, the company mandated by the COM to carry out the works, announced: "We will have completed the six classes of the college by the end of November".

It is clear that a week before the deadline, the work is far from over. "The deadlines will not be maintained. We were late because we had three weeks of rain. We advance as much as we can but we can't make the guys work in the rain. Today we no longer give a date but it will be finished by the end of the year, ”explains the entrepreneur.

Seven workers work on the site, including an additional night shift from 16 p.m. to 22 p.m. In addition to the vagaries of the weather, the entrepreneur invokes the absence of qualified labor on the island, preventing him from recruiting more: "if there were labor there would be fifteen to work above. But, we are in contact with Martinique and Guadeloupe, there is none. We should be able to bring in foreign workers ”.

Once the company has finished assembling the six mobile classes (three two-story buildings with one class per floor) for the college part, it will get down to the high school part (four classes). But this second phase should be faster, the workers having taken the hand.
